2020
Happy New Year Truth Squad!! I hope you all are ready to have an amazing 2020. You know I had to check in to ask if you have completed your end of year “self-reflection self-appraisal”? If you have not, I encourage you to complete it before the end of this month. The importance of completing it as soon as possible is so that you can begin to change your behaviors before too much time passes. You do not want to look up and be in the same position you were in last year. We will not bring bad habits, negative outlooks or unhealed lash outs into a new year.
The New Year is filled with so much promise! I am not a fan of the quote “new year new me” because in my opinion it speaks to changing who you are because you are in a new era of time. How I look at preparing myself for a new year is by continuously bettering myself day by day. Life is all about learning and growing. The new year gives everyone a fresh beginning to recharge and refocus our time and efforts. Below are a few universal goals that I wanted to share with you all. I believe by doing the following, it will heighten our results this year!
Make Better Use Of Your Time
Three methods we all should begin to utilize to be more productive this year are:
Plan a day in advance: At the end of my day, I will make a list of all the tasks I need to accomplish the next day. By doing this, it will ensure that each day I work on my tasks I will move closer to achieving my goals, instead of working on the wrong things or wasting time wondering what I should be doing.
Start the day one hour earlier: Often times I struggle with rushing in the morning. I am constantly waking up in just enough time for me to shower, get dressed, grab a bite to eat and be on my way. This year I am requiring more from my mornings. By waking up an hour earlier, I will create more time to get mentally prepared for the day. I can pray, make breakfast AND coffee at home, send off a few emails and I can also give myself time to breathe.
Focus: If you are like me, focusing is the hardest thing to do in today’s era. There are many distractions that take me away from my day to day responsibilities and goals. The main distraction I have is social media; mostly Instagram. At times I convince myself that I get inspiration from the motivational and do it yourself pages I follow. However, the truth is that I spend an unprecedented amount of time scrolling through my timeline. This year I am limiting my time on social media. I will only indulge when I have TRUE free time.
Have More Fun, Go On More Adventures
This year I turn 30 years old! I can not believe I am even typing this; yes 30! Even though I do not look my age, I am beginning to feel my age. What I mean by this is that my life is very routine. This year we are shaking things up. We are traveling, having friends nights, date nights, self care or anything that will require us to unplug from our day to day life. This will help with your mental health! Nothing is better than taking time for yourself.
N.N.T.
We are letting all negativity go this year. My motto for 2020 is NNT (No Negative Thoughts). Negativity can form in many ways; doubt, grudges, control, worry, fear etc. We are doing away with it all! How I plan to deal with negativity is by controlling my thoughts. Whenever I encounter a negative experience, I will thank God for all the good I have in my life. This will put things back into perspective; things could always be worse. I will follow that up with reading motivational quotes and scriptures.
Three of my favorite quotes are:
“Worry deprives you of strength and makes everything much worse than what actually is”.
“The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge”.
“Fear is that little dark room where negatives are developed”.
We are going to crush it this year! We have so much to accomplish together and becoming a better us is priority number one! I have a huge announcement for you all coming in February! I am so excited to share my vision with you all. Check in with me this month!
